One of the first projects for Falls City Thrives was to help bring more businesses into our community. With money from the City of Falls City and grants, this old medical clinic was renovated and reinvigorated.
Falls City Thrives Visioning Statement
Falls City is a community that values neighborly engagement, its rich logging history, and the outdoor recreation opportunities found here. Our community is a close-knit one that offers safe small-town living in the quiet Coast Range foothills. The way forward for our community involves engaging our community in volunteerism, fostering a vibrant downtown, maintaining a sense of community, being situated as a gateway to outdoor recreation, promoting healthy neighborhoods, mentoring future generations, and fostering innovation.
In our vision for the future, Falls City will host community events and be an attractive space for community members to mingle. The downtown will be decorated to accentuate the town’s character and will incorporate signage, seating, and bike infrastructure to maximize the sense of place. Current businesses will be supported and engaged as we seek to create a friendly, welcoming business space to attract entrepreneurs and new business owners to expand the number of services available to the public. We will improve neighborhoods through beautification, connecting homeowner residents to home improvement assistance and volunteer programs while engaging in long-term work to increase accessibility to affordable housing inventory for those who are in need.
Falls City North Main Street area will serve as a space for the community to connect, where residents come together for events and to support our small businesses. Our parks, the Little Luckiamute River, the Falls, and surrounding forest are other sources of pride. We intend to preserve and appropriately develop them to make them more enjoyable recreational sites for both residents and visitors.
Working together through positive collaboration with our civic organizations, schools, and churches, we will continue to invest in our community’s youth, encouraging them to be a part of the perpetual cycle of helping others through volunteerism and mentoring, focusing on empowering citizens young, old, and in between with life skills and compassion, fostering dignity with community.
These improvements and events will enhance the sense of community, and encourage more engagement between community members. The vision is to have a connected, thriving community with a culture of robust volunteerism and civic pride. Through the teamwork of local residents, community organizations, our schools, and our local government, the sky is the limit for Falls City.
